Now for something a little bit different. My week in pictures, along with my favourite outfits.
Day One// A sunday perfectly spent on Margate harbour, having BBQ food and coffee followed by vintage shopping in the old town. Although we didn’t actually pick anything up, we checked out some new stores that have popped up on our door step. (more…)
Today marks the beginning on Foundation Friday. 8 weeks of foundation reviews, every Friday, to prepare you for your next foundation purchase. Not because I think you should wear the ones I’m suggesting, but because I know how horrible it is trying to find the right one for your skin type.
So lets kick of Foundation Friday with a bang. MAC Studio Fix Fluid is a foundation that took me some time getting used to but has now become one of my all time favourites.
Packed inside a glass bottle is 30mls of full coverage foundation that applies smoothly on both dry and oily skins.
This foundation goes on quite dewy but sets to a perfect mix of matte and glow. The coverage is full but it doesn’t look strange on the skin or feel too heavy. As with all MAC foundations, its incredibly easy to find the perfect match for your skin colour. Mine being NC15, shamefully pale I know! (more…)
Today’s face of the day is inspired by my funky new glasses. After attending the Specsavers Fashion Showcase, I was lucky enough to receive some new glasses thanks to Specsavers. I picked up these Karen Millen frames in store and am so happy to finally have updated my look.
Border lining geek-chic, these cat eye frames are such a great accessory to any outfit and work really well with most makeup looks.Thicker framed glasses are almost certainly a favourite with most fashionistas, making these frames not just practical but a fashion statement too.
With leopard print details on the front and studs on the arms, these specs definitely appeal to my rebellious side!
Let’s rewind back to 2 years ago and my skin was a state! Bad skincare followed by very harsh blemish treatments left me spottier than ever and at a loss of what to do. I felt like the cosmetics industry had completely let me down. Products aimed at blemishes actually made my skin even spottier. What was I to do?
I decided one day to take things back to basics and use a gentle cleanser, toner and moisturiser. Now this seriously cleared up my skin, although it’s never been clearer until I began my current skincare routine.
Now that all these blemishes have disappeared, I’ve been left with red angry scars, that make me feel very self conscious. So I decided enough was enough and I turned to the only person I knew could help me, Caroline Hirons. After reading on her blog that she recommends Pepta Bright, as it reduced her scarring, I knew it was for me! (more…)
The Naked 1& 2 are the industries best selling palettes and have completely changed the way some of us wear eyeshadow forever. Both were packed with beautiful bronzes, browns and silvers, ideal for the creating perfect nude looks. Naturally when Urban Decay announced the release of the Naked 3, the blogosphere went crazy!
I was lucky enough to get my hands on the eagerly awaited palette back in December and have spent a few months getting to grips with the colours and finding my favourite ways to wear them.
Unlike other nude palettes that have been recently launched, this palette contains 12 rose hued shades. From pale pinks to a deep black (with pink glitter particles of course!). This palette contains every finish a girl could want; smooth mattes, shimmering metallics and pretty pearls.
Face masks; you’ve probably gathered that they are not my favourite beauty product. Although I enjoy using them, I rarely find one that makes any real difference. On my quest to find the perfect face mask, I picked this up from Soap & Glory, the No Clogs Allowed Super Self Heating Mask. Designed to apparently deeply detox the pores, this is designed for oily, congested skin.
Taking a grape sized amount, you spread this mask onto your face twice a week, then you must wet your hands and the mask turns blue. Now all you do is wait 5 minutes (are you noticing a pattern here? All my masks only take 5 minutes!)
Exfoliating is changing quite rapidly in the beauty industry. As old fashioned, grainy exfoliators are being shown to be too harsh for the skin, acid exfoliators are becoming more popular.
Nip + Fab have jumped onto that bandwagon with a range called Glycolic Fix. I was lucky enough to get my hands onto the daily cleanser and have been using it regularly since. Described as being a foaming facial cleanser with Glycolic and Apple Amino Acids, I kinda panicked at the word foaming. Luckily when this is applied it hardly foams at all and doesn’t leave my skin feeling dry or tight like most foaming cleansers. Already in my good books.
My love for The Body Shop goes way back to when I was a child. My mum would let me and my sister use her strawberry and chocolate flavoured lip balm and since then I’ve been hooked to this iconic brand. If I’m in need of skincare staples, this is the first place I go. So naturally I popped in store when I ran out of moisturiser and wanted something mattyfying. Never failing to please me, I picked up the Seaweed Mattifying Day Cream (along with a few other treats.)
Lips are not my favourite part of my makeup routine. I’m too lazy to keep reapplying perfect lipstick all day and hate the feeling when lipstick starts to dry on my lips. Lip glosses are more my cup of tea but that being said, I can’t stand super sticky glosses which attract my hair all day.
That’s where these little gems come in to save the day. Giving just the right amount of colour to the lips, NYX Butter Glosses are soft, creamy and in no way sticky. The coverage is sheer to medium, depending on the shade, with a lovely sweet scent. Just what I want from a lipgloss! So easily applied, with minimal maintenance throughout the day, these are the perfect lazy girl lip colours. (more…)
Face masks are not something I use on a regular basis, not because I don’t like them but because I find it hard making the time for them. But with this mask, there is no excuse!
Designed to be applied for just 5 minutes, this product promises to gently exfoliate and decongest your skin, leaving a youthful glow. Packed with anti- ageing peptides to promote collagen production and Glycolic Acid to exfoliate, this mask seems to do it all! (more…)
